Professional digital art reproduction and artwork scanning, producing colour-accurate, archival files for high-quality giclée printing.
At Image Centre, art reproduction begins with accurate digital capture. We use controlled studio photography and high-resolution cameras to best preserve detail, colour, surface texture and scale. We work with artists, illustrators, photographers and collectors who need faithful, print-ready digital files that reflect the original work exactly as intended. All work is completed in our purpose-built studio near Bath and Bristol.
Book High-Resolution ReproductionWhat is art reproduction and giclée printing?
Art reproduction is the process of creating high-resolution, colour-accurate digital files from original artworks, ready for professional giclée printing. This is the stage where the character, tonal balance, and colour relationships of the original work are carefully captured and preserved.
At Image Centre, reproduction is carried out using a combination of high-resolution artwork scanning and controlled studio photography, depending on the scale, surface, and medium of the original piece. Colour matching is performed in-house to produce faithful, print-ready digital files that form the foundation of high-quality giclée prints.
For most artists and collections, these digital files are then used to produce archival giclée prints, allowing the artwork to be reproduced consistently across single editions or larger print runs. Because reproduction and giclée printing are handled together, accuracy is maintained from capture through to final print.
How it works
Many artists are unsure how reproduction works if they’ve never used a specialist service before. Our process is designed to be clear, collaborative and flexible.
Our Art Reproduction Process
Step 1 - Artwork photography
Your original artwork is photographed in our custom‑designed studio using high‑res cameras, Zeiss lenses and controlled lighting to capture maximum detail, texture and tonal range.
Step 2 - Colour matching
We colour‑match the digital file to the original artwork under controlled viewing conditions, using calibrated Eizo ColorEdge monitors and a fully colour‑managed workflow.
Step 3 - Client proofing
You are invited to review the reproduction and, if required, work with us to make subtle adjustments. This collaborative stage ensures the final file reflects your intent, not just a technical target.
Step 4 - Archival file creation
Once approved, the final master file is securely archived and can be used for giclée printing now or in the future, ideal for artists selling prints over many years.
Optional - Giclée printing
Most reproduction projects continue into giclée printing on museum‑grade papers, produced in‑house using Epson professional printers.

Why art reproduction quality matters
A faithful reproduction is not about making an artwork look “better” - it’s about preserving what already exists. Subtle shifts in colour, contrast or surface detail can fundamentally change how a piece is perceived. That’s why professional artists and collectors treat reproduction as a craft in its own right.
By investing in the right environment, equipment and experience, we remove variables and guesswork - allowing your artwork to be reproduced consistently, accurately, and with confidence. Whether it's a single scan or entire collection, our commitment to quality is reflected in everything we do for each of our valued clients.

Art Reproduction - FAQs
I’ve never had my artwork reproduced before - is that a problem?
- Not at all. Most clients start with little technical knowledge. We explain each stage clearly and guide you through the process.
Do you work with large or delicate artworks?
- Yes. Our studio is designed to accommodate a wide range of sizes and media.
Can I make changes after the first proof?
- Yes. Proofing and refinement are part of the service.
Do you keep my files for future printing?
- Yes. We securely archive approved master files for long‑term use.
Do you only print on certain papers?
- We stock a full range of museum‑grade papers from Canson and Hahnemühle, selected to suit the artwork.
Do you print from client supplied files?
- We regularly print from supplied digital files, whether created digitally, scanned by the artist, or photographed elsewhere. In most cases these files print beautifully without issue.
Will the colours in my own file print accurately?
- Where accurate colour matching is important, particularly for painted or analogue work, we may recommend a file review or colour adjustment to ensure the print matches your expectations. Any additional work is discussed in advance.
